TITLE | Self-imaging of molecules by their own electrons--- How to probe sub-10fs chemical dynamics |
ABSTRACT | Imaging, or the determination of the structure of an object, has always occupied an essential role in sciences. As scientists begin to play an “active” role in peeking at and taking control of the microscopic world of atoms and molecules, ultrafast tools must be developed in order to obtain the image of a dynamic system. In this talk, I will introduce the emerging expensive tools that are being developed for such purposes. I will also discuss the strong field rescattering physics phenomena where molecules may be imaged by their own electrons as they undergo a chemical reaction, at the sub-10fs temporal resolution that is already available today with infrared lasers. |
