TITLE | Quantum Statistical Mechanics from the Viewpoint of Statistical Decision Theory |
ABSTRACT | In this talk, I will first review some classic results in statistical decision theory, collectively known as "statistical comparison theory," which include, for example, the famous "majorization" ordering for probability distributions. I will then discuss some recent extensions to the quantum case, and argue that these provide an extremely useful framework to study various problems in physics and quantum information sciences. In particular, I will focus on applications to open quantum systems dynamics and quantum non-equilibrium thermodynamics. |
