TITLE | Quantum theory of cavity-assisted sideband cooling of micromechanical oscillator to its quantum ground state |

ABSTRACT | We provide a theoretical analysis to describe cooling of micromechanical oscillator to its quantum ground state with driven optical cavity using radiation pressure coupling in appropriately detuned cavity mode (cavity-assisted sideband). We evaluate the non-Markovian two-time correlations (CF’s) of micromechanical displacement by the exactly Heisenberg-Langevin equation of motion through fluctuation-dissipation theorem. In general non-equilibrium fluctuation-noise can be assigned a unique eﬀective temperature Teﬀ [ω] for the noise which provides a definition of effective average phonon occupation number |
