TITLE | Low-light-level all-optical modulation |
ABSTRACT | Photons are well-known information carriers. Manipulating photons is a promising means in the study of quantum communications and quantum computations. The enhanced nonlinearity based on the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) effect permits us employing one photon switched or phase moudulated by another possible. In order to prolong the interaction time via the medium, we use two motionless light pulses interact with each other and consequently, the optical process induces the better nonlinear effect. Furthermore, the simulation shows that the nonlinear effect based on this scheme is linear proportional to the optical density of the medium without any upper limit. Our work provides the technology for the low-light-level even single-photon-level nonlinear optics and advances the application in quantum information manipulation. |
